Few good & bad surprises

One of the movies I was waiting for and even mentioned on the blog about that was a big surprise... unfortunately an unpleasant one. Only God Forgives....how can I even start?:)

The whole thing is just a mistake! Am not gonna lie here, Ryan Gosling....I thought you have a bit more to say? :) If there is not much talking in the movie I expect the actors to express emotion with their body, face, movement etc.... but Ryan did nothing! In short...nothing happened. What a shame...

There is a lot of violence in the movie and I was expecting this, however only when it makes a purpose, explains something, is a means to understand the subject but not in Only God Forgives. I have seen Drive and loved the movie, there was violence there as well but here....this is just pathetic. Already after 15 min I felt like i do not want to watch it, so for all of you who planned to see this movie....seriously, there are so many better movies than this.
I am also astonished that such a good actress as Kristin Scott Thomas decided to be part of this project. But I think she was the only one in the movie showing certain level of experience and good performance in overall.

And now to compare with something that unexpectedly made my day, Twice Born with Emile Hirsch and Penelope Cruz.

I haven't seen a movie with Emile for some time but I must say I love this guy! He brings this vibe and energy and he chooses well the characters for himself. Although he's so young, the performance provided says he is becoming a very good actor - I will always remember him for Into the Wild....and for this movie as well.

An important thing to mention here is the story itself, complicated with bumps on the road and unexpected moments. What I also felt was that it was sincere. The writers did a really good job with this screenplay, and it's based on novel by Margaret Mazzantini.

When it comes to Penelope Cruz, she also made a difference however I somehow felt that Emile Hirsch was the real thing here and she was just the addition, even though Penelope is the main character thru the whole movie.
If you like Marion Cotillard please see Rust and Bone as in my opinion it's a great one! The story is overwhelming but so is the way Marion plays and also her partner Matthias Schoenaerts.

This is a different kind of love story that happens slowly in front of our eyes. The movie is a really weird one, but when it ends and you see the big picture....it makes you think about life.

The last movie I wanted to touch upon is the latest Woody Allen movie, Blue Jasmine with amazing Cate Blanchett.
I must say, among all the movies Woody Allen made lately, this one is the best one. Don't get me wrong, I am not comparing here with the old olllldddd movies of Woody that are even better...
There are many famous actors (as usual) in Blue Jasmine, Alec Baldwin and Peter Sarsgaard to start with however....our leading lady Cate Blanchett is just unbeatable here! This is what I had on mind by saying expressing emotions with body language! When you look at her, you just feel everything what she wants to reveal. I will even go further with my judgement and say....I would nominate her for an Oscar :)
