So I would like to start with one I call "do not watch it" and the winner is...Cloud Atlas!Seriously people, it is not worth wasting your time, to be more precise exactly 3 hours of your time:) I am astonished that Wachowski brothers (or should I write brother & sister?) made such a bad movie. The idea is quite interesting itself but it's just chaos there. The only "times" I sort of enjoyed watching was the future with its visual effects, action and dialogues, but that's just 20% or less of the movie :) And when I read somewhere they spent around 100 m $ on it? it's just sad really. I actually don't even feel like mentioning the plot for you, as it's not worth it :)
Lincoln with the 12 Oscar nominations is something different. Movie about Abraham Lincoln and his politics, obviously a costume movie with a lot of talking. So if you're not a big fan of history&politics...well, maybe you should pick something else for the evening :) In my sincere opinion, it's an ok movie, it did not touch my motions in any way, yeah Daniel Day Lewis is quite good in his role, characterization, the voice, the way he plays....deserves respect but an Oscar? am not so sure really. In a very good way he depicts the persona that made history and that's why there is such power there. But I'm not gonna lie, I don't think I will see it ever again.
For the admirers of Denzel Washington I recommend movie Flight. Denzel is nominated as actor in a leading role for the Oscar this year. The movie in overall is quite entertaining, providing action and drawing your attention almost from the beginning. And do not, I repeat DO NOT watch it before flying somewhere:)
Was Denzel as good in this role as in the Training Day? of course not :) so I doubt he will get the Oscar.
Life of Pi, another big one with 11 nominations. And again a very long movie. I don't know if it's just me or a new trend started in the business, to create movies that last 2,5-3 hours? Anyways, after half an hour the magic of Pi starts and I must admit, it's an amazing story! Worth seeing this one but it is not easy to focus for the whole time. Why did it get so many nominations? am no sure really:)
Now let's move to the ones I can definitely recommend to watch and seriously, they are just that good :)
Argo is not only a true story about secret CIA operation to extract 6 fugitives from Iran but also it was directed very well. Some of you might already know, it was also appreciated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Ben Affleck received the Golden Globe for directing it and he looked pretty amazed when he heard his name :) I guess being nominated in the same category as Steven Spielberg is already an honour but still...Ben got it! He also plays the main role in the movie so that must be challenging. What else to say, you should see Argo and judge yourself!
And now my favorite :) Seriously, this movie blew my mind, it's just exceptional. I loved the story, loved the dialogues, loved the music and enjoyed the cast. DJANGO UNCHAINED by Quentin Tarantino. Yes, it's no wonder I do like movies of Tarantino but not all of them.
I have watched every second of this one, enjoyed the whole thing and laughed as well. There are not that many movies in our times that really entertain you and you can also say there is a so called added value there, something to think about.
Christoph Waltz is nominated for the Oscar for supporting role, he got the Golden Globe and I won't be surprised if he receives this one as well. Not to forget about others, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L Jackson and Leonardo Dicaprio.....like really, all 3 of them provided what I call a very good movie:)
You have to see it! You won't regret it believe me, unless...you don't like the Tarantino sarcastic and sick taste of humor :D
